The School Student Broadband Initiative is an Australian Government program
The School Student Broadband Initiative (SSBI) is an Australian Government program to support students that do not have access to home internet (broadband).
To boost education opportunities and help narrow the digital divide, the School Student Broadband Initiative is providing approximately 30,000 eligible families and carers across Australia with school age children with free nbn-powered broadband internet at home until 30 June 2028.
The program is not currently accepting new nominations, but unredeemed vouchers will remain valid until 11:59pm on 30 June 2025.

I have an unredeemed SSBI voucher, what do I do?
Families and carers with an existing SSBI voucher can use their voucher and connect to SSBI through a participating SSBI internet provider. The full list of SSBI internet providers follows. You can also contact the National Referral Centre on 1800 954 610 for assistance. Unredeemed vouchers will remain valid until 11:59pm on 30 June 2025.
Participating SSBI internet providers
Your voucher will list the specific internet providers that service your area (current as at the date in the footer of that voucher). Following, you’ll find the most up to date list of participating internet providers#. Your preferred internet provider will check your voucher when placing your order.
Not all internet providers operate in all parts of Australia, or provide services over all types of nbn technologies. If your preferred internet provider does not supply services at your address, please select another internet provider.

Important notes
# The details above are provided to nbn by participating internet providers as of 17 March 2025. Please contact them directly for full details of their individual School Student Broadband Initiative retail offers. nbn is a wholesaler and does not supply services directly to customers.
The rollout of the nbn network will involve new technologies, and some existing devices including many medical alarms, may not be compatible with these at all times. You should contact your equipment provider to find out if your alarm or other equipment will work when connected to the nbn network and what alternative solutions are available.
