Connecting to Community

Never miss a yarn. Stay connected to community.

What is the nbn® network?

It doesn’t matter whether you’re working, learning or simply having a yarn, the nbn network provides access to fast and reliable internet across the country – so you can do more of what you want online.

Why nbn?

Connecting to the nbn network makes sense*.

Home internet for everyone in the household

Watch your favourite sport or TV show online

Access many important online services

The perfect companion to your mobile device

Your mobile is great for keeping you connected when you’re out and about, whilst an nbn network connection will provide fast and reliable internet when you’re at home. So, it makes sense to use both services depending on where you are, and what you’re doing.

Connecting to the nbn network is easy

The nbn network is available in some of the most remote corners of Australia, and from a choice of home internet providers. It’s a good idea to check your address to see whether you can connect to the nbn network before calling a home internet provider. You can do this by typing your address in the box below.

Contact a provider of your choice

They can help you choose an nbn powered plan and answer any questions you may have about your service or the connection process.

Choose a plan that suits you

Tell your home internet provider what devices you use at home so they can help you choose the right plan.

Connecting to Community – A creative story

The Connecting to Community artwork was created by Eastern Arrernte artist Pat Caruso for nbn. The artwork tells the collective story of vast country and community connection. nbn is visualised as a facilitator of connection to Community and various services required by community.

Pat has spent 20 years reconnecting to his roots, taking children, communities, and clients on a profound journey of knowledge sharing and reflection, and encouraging us all to embrace all facets of our unique identities. Through We Create Print Deliver, an advertising and business agency he founded in 2015, Pat is building a legacy that honours his cross-cultural identity.

Your experience, including the speeds actually achieved over the nbn network, depends on the nbn access technology and configuration over which services are delivered to your premises, whether you are using the internet during the busy period, and some factors outside of nbn’s control (like your equipment quality, software, chosen broadband plan, signal reception, or how your provider designs its network).
*
The rollout of the nbn network will involve new technologies, and some existing devices including many medical alarms, may not be compatible with these at all times. You should contact your equipment provider to find out if your alarm or other equipment will work when connected to the nbn network and what alternative solutions are available.
