CONNECTING TO nbn® FULL FIBRE IN YOUR BUILDING

upgrade

We’re working with your body corporate to connect your entire building to full fibre via Fibre to the Premises (FTTP).

What you need to know

What does the upgrade mean for me?

Once you’re connected to a new plan that uses nbn full fibre, you’ll be able to stream, work and game from more devices at the same time with fewer dropouts.*

What equipment will nbn install in my unit/apartment?

nbn will install the internal nbn connection box which needs to be positioned next to an existing power source. The nbn connection box enables you to connect your devices (modem/router) to the nbn network via your new full fibre (FTTP) connection.

What does installation involve?

Installation will involve connecting nbn fibre from the street to the nbn supplied equipment within the apartment/unit. Individual apartment/unit access will be required to install and connect the nbn connection box in preparation for activating the full fibre (Fibre to the Premises/FTTP) service. When contacted, please provide access to your premises to install the nbn equipment required for the nbn full fibre connection. nbn will also work with the building’s authorised representative throughout this process, who will have complete visibility of the proposed works prior to commencement.

Will my existing services be interrupted?

We don't anticipate any planned outages during your installation appointment. Units/apartments that have an active alternative fibre connection from a different fibre provider (other than nbn) are not expected to be impacted. If you do experience an interruption to existing services, speak to your phone and internet provider.

Quick tip

For an even better Wi-Fi experience on nbn full fibre, check with your provider whether your existing modem will be compatible.

When can I order a plan that uses nbn full fibre?

nbn and your Building Manager will be in touch once the upgrade is complete and nbn has activated the full fibre connection in your building. You can then contact a provider to connect to a new plan that uses nbn full fibre (Fibre to the Premises/FTTP).

What if I don’t want to switch to nbn full fibre?

You can continue to use your existing home internet service as usual. If you’d like to switch to nbn full fibre in future, simply contact your provider.

#Regardless of the retail service you purchase, actual wholesale download speeds delivered to providers will be less than 1Gbps due to equipment and network limitations. Your experience on FTTP, including the speeds actually achieved, depends on the configuration over which services are delivered to your premises, whether you are using the internet during the busy period, and some factors outside of nbn’s control (like your equipment quality, software, chosen broadband plan, or how your provider designs its network). Business nbn FTTP services are provided over our TC-4 nbn Ethernet TC-4 services. Additional charges may apply if you take up optional extras like Business Services.

*Your experience on nbn FTTP, including speed, depends on your internet provider, plan, equipment quality and if you use the internet at peak times.
